The Outdoor League Season has started! The Midnite Moonlite league has already started … and goes thru August 11, 2016. You do not have to shoot EVERY Thursday night; each evening starts fresh for scores and awards. This is a Conventional Dewar Course fired on Midnite-Moonlite targets with any sights, .22 rimfire rifle. The league runs on Thursday nights—June 16; July 21, 28; and, August 4, 11. Relay times are 5PM, 5:30PM, 6PM, 6:30PM, 7PM & 7:30PM (you need to fire on two relays; one target each at 50 yards and one at 100 yards).
And, you do not have to be a top shooter! A handicap system will be used. Each week, shooters will select their handicap before firing. At the conclusion of the match, the handicap is added to the raw score for a final handicapped score. For every point that the handicapped score is over the maximum score of 400, the shooter is penalized 2 points.
EXAMPLES:
Wind Doper John takes a handicap of 3 points. He fires a raw score of 395. 395 + 3 point handicap = 398 final handicapped score.
Crossfire Nick takes a handicap of 5 points. He fires a raw score of 398. 398 + 5 point handicap = 403 (3 points over the maximum score of 400 x 2 point penalty = 6 points, giving him a final handicapped score of 394 (400 – 6 points).
Confused? You just come out and shoot a great score, and we will figure out the results.
And, awards just don’t go to the TOP Guns! Awards are based on individual scores only. Separate awards will be allocated for each Thursday evening for both scratch and handicap scores. Result sheets will be posted each week on the www.bluetrailrange.com website. Awards will be in the form of cash. 1st Place (5 shooters), 2nd Place (10 shooters), 3rd Place (15 shooters). Additional awards for each 5 shooters.
And, you even get to eat! Hot dogs are grilled by the BTR Master Chef. Feel free to bring your own salad, chips, beverages, or dessert … or even something to share!
And, all this for only $15! For complete details, click here for match program.
In the first match (May 26) of the Midnite Moonlite season, Dale Petty was the Match Winner in the raw score category with a 399-27x. Pat Russo fired a 396-30x for 1st Place and Laura Milukas 2nd with a 396-23x. In the handicap score category, Jacob Lagace nailed it by taking a 5 point handicap. Firing a 395 and adding five for his handicapped, he was declared Match Winner with 400-28x. Dale guessed 2 points which was one point too many for his 399, so he settled for 1st with a final handicap score of 398-27x. Four x’s behind was Harrison Callahan.
The 2nd week (June 2) found Dale Petty for the 2nd week in a row at the top of the leader board with a 399-23x. Congrats Dale; it’s about time that someone gave the Connecticut juniors a run for their money. The wind was tricky, though, and the others didn’t fare quite as well. Firing a 398-28x was Scott Condo for 1st Place and Jacob Lagace – 397-21x – 2nd Place. A newcomer to spotting herself and shooting outdoors, Sydney Hawke fired a very respectable 394 for 3rd place. In the handicap match, three shooters picked the right handicapping for a perfect score of 400. Dale Petty led the pack with 23 x’s for Match Winner, Jacob Lagace 1st with 21 and Tucker Fowler 2nd with 18. Capturing 3rd place was Kristina D’Agostino, just home from college and dusting the cobwebs off her gun from a nine-month sabbatical with a 398-15x.
Chef Sam served each shooter hotdogs after their match; everyone agreeing that the grill was well seasoned from the long winter rest. See ‘ya next week, gotta run to BJs to pick up more dogs!
