The Midnite Moonlite League – Dale Petty, Middlefield Rifle Club’s veteran shooter dominated the 1st two matches but found that the juniors were going to be a force to reckon with for the 3rd & 4th matches.
The June 9 match found Blue Trail Range’s intermediate junior Harrison Callahan at the top of the leader board with a Match Winner raw score of 394-13x. Teammate Jacob Lagace, one point behind, took 1st Place and Scott Condo took 2nd with his 389. In the handicapped match, Blue Trail’s Tucker Fowler posted a 399-14x for Match Winner. A 396 was the score to be fired for 1st and 2nd, with Jacob firing 21x for 1st and Harrison 2nd with 13x.
June 16 found Dale back as Match Winner with a 397-24x. Senior teammate Pat Russo gave up a night of fishing to give some support to Dale to combat the juniors and fired a 396-26x for 2nd place. Blue Trail Range’s sub-junior Emma Acampora scored three extra x’s, however, for 1st place. When it comes to picking a handicap number for the night, though, the juniors seem to do a better job. Picking an 8 point handicap, Harrison Callahan was victorious with a final perfect handicap score of 400. Posting 399’s were Tucker Fowler and Sydney Hawke with 16 and 9 x’s respectively.
The 2nd half was held after the National matches and attendance typically drops, however, the first match (Week #5) was attended solely by Match Winner Johnny Lesica. The next week proved to be a little more exciting when three showed up! Dale Petty and Pat Russo both fired 395’s but Dale must have had a better lot of ammo as he squeaked out six more x’s than Pat. He claimed his trigger finger was tired from sifting brass–his day job at Blue Trail in his spare time as Chief Range Officer. The 7th week found Dale getting a little competition. While he managed to win the raw score of 399-26x, junior Sydney Hawke won the handicap match with one point to spare! On the final evening, it was the two masters of Pat Russo and Dale Petty again sharing the accolades of Match Winner (Pat the raw score and Dale the handicapped).
Great shooting to all that participated–try to bring a friend next season. This match is a great opportunity to socialize and share some light refreshments. As always, thanks to Chef Samantha for grilling the hot dogs and all of the other parents that give an assist.
