Blue Trail Range “Gold” Team Wins NRA Junior Indoor Metric Position Sectional – held February 6-8, 2015 – hosted by Blue Trail Range, Wallingford, CT.
Blue Trail Range “Gold” team proved to be unbeatable in yet another sectional in 2015; posting a team total of 2104 on the difficult metric target on February 6-8, 2015. Scott Condo led the team to victory with his 542, followed by Kristina D’Agostino (530), Patrick Sardo (522), and Josh Lindgren (510). This will be Patrick’s last sectional match with the Blue Trail Junior Rifle Club as he had just learned shortly after firing this match that he had been accepted to The Ohio State University. A few weeks later, he learned that he was the recipient of the much sought after National Buckeye scholarship, clinching the deal for him on where he was attending college this Fall. He will compete with The Ohio State University NCAA Varsity Rifle Team, bringing a total of three Connecticut Nutmeggers to that team in the past three years. Congratulations Blue Trail on your great team performance this season, and special kudos to Patrick on his academic success. High Scholastic honors went to Xavier High School “Black” with a team score of 2012. Freshman Michael Acampora led the team to their win with his 544, with Dylan Lorence firing a 521, Chris Longo (483), and Garrett Moran (464). 1st Place Junior team went to Cos Cob Revolver & Rifle Club “On Point” shooters Kaitlyn Kutz (555), Gillian Riordan (480), Thomas Chiappetta (452), and Johnny Lesica (443). This team has worked very hard, grooming themselves with extra practices, mental training sessions, investing in better equipment, and holding special practice sessions on critiquing positions—and their diligence has certainly paid off.
In the individual match, Eric Sloan from Oakdale, Connecticut, easily won the match with a 568, firing a 199 in prone, 185 in standing, and 184 kneeling. 2nd overall was Kaitlyn Kutz with a 555; Michael Acampora was 544 for 3rd overall. 1st, 2nd & 3rd Intermediate Junior went to Scott Condo (542), Katherine Gorlo (527) from Bridgeport Rifle Club, and Dylan Lorence (521). 1st Sub-Junior was Blue Trail JRC’s Emma Acampora with a score of 462; she is currently attending Hamden Hall Country Day School.
