Held on January 17 & 18, 2015 –
Local high school students dominated match winning laurels in the recent Blue Trail Range monthly smallbore rifle match held on January 17, 2015. Scott Condo, a Vinal Tech sophomore, was declared Match Winner in the prone and kneeling positions with scores of 196 and 187, respectively, and the aggregate match winning score of 554. Following close behind was Xavier freshman Michael Acampora with a 541 for 1st Expert/Sharpshooter and a Match Winner score of 179 in standing. Senior Patrick Sardo captured 1st Expert/Sharpshooter Kneeling with a 180. Jim Henderson, from Old Saybrook, was 1st Expert/Sharpshooter with a 195 in Prone. The girls dominated the Marksman class with Kaitlyn Kutz, Cos Cob Rifle & Revolver Club, 1st Marksman in the kneeling and aggregate with scores of 178 and 532. Quinnipiac freshman Kristina D’Agostino fired a 195 and 170 in the prone and standing positions for 1st Marksman. Fairly new to position shooting, Blue Trail Range’s Harrison Callahan won 1st Unclassified Master for Standing, Kneeling and the Aggregate; and Emma Acampora won the prone match in the same category.
Half of the competitors then entered the air gun range to match their skills at 33 feet which turned out to be a very close match with three top scores in the 560’s. Caitlin Kutz fired the match winning score of 568, followed by a 565 from Jim Henderson for 1st Master/Sharpshooter, and a 563 from Patrick Sardo for 3rd overall. Firing a 552 for 1st Marksman was Sydney Katz.
